Mainly Photography

This series was created during a journey through the Moluccas, a remote island region in Indonesia. Between jungle, coastlines, small settlements and long routes away from classic travel paths, the work developed into a visual story about being on the move in a landscape that is raw, alive and difficult to plan.

At the center are not only spectacular places, but the experience of travel itself: heat, movement, uncertainty, nature, encounters and the particular stillness of remote islands. The images show a journey shaped less by famous landmarks than by atmosphere, details and moments along the way.

Working Approach

The series was created under simple travel conditions, with reduced equipment and a focus on what developed on location. Instead of staging fixed motifs, the approach was to observe situations, light and surroundings attentively and allow a coherent visual story to emerge from them.

The project was shot with a camera from the Fujifilm X System, the Fujifilm X-T4.

Recognition

A Milky Way photograph from this series was selected and exhibited by the jury for the Top 50 at the Swiss Photo Club Contest 2025 in Munich

Use/Publication

Parts of the Moluccas series were used by Wandermut for web and social media. The images offer insights into a journey away from classic routes — shaped by tropical landscapes, movement, night atmosphere and a documentary view of moments on the road.
